Gospel Highway Free-at-3:00 Sunday for Military Appreciation Day at RAF

Gospel Highway http://www.gospelhwy.com who performs Free-at-3:00 on Sunday, is an 8-piece band of local bluegrass gospel enthusiasts who use their music as the ministry for their Christian faith. Leader Ron Carnighan, who is pastor at Monk Memorial United Methodist Church between Fountain and Farmville, sings and plays rhythm guitar. Also in the band: Roger Baker sings and plays rhythm guitar; Don Bradley sings and plays mandolin; Melissa Reel is featured vocalist; Donnie Harris plays lead guitar; Bill “Buck” Rogers sings and plays banjo; Billy East plays bass; and Capt. Frederick Volcansek plays mandolin and guitar.

Sunday's concert is a homecoming for Volcansek, who is returning this week from his second tour of duty as a Marine Corps pilot in Afghanistan. Rogers is a Desert Storm vet and Major in the U.S. Army Reserves.

All current military personnel and veterans attending Sunday's show will be treated to free ice cream.

R.A. Fountain, General Store and Internet Cafe, is located in historic downtown Fountain, at the intersection of US 258 and NC 222. Its family atmosphere is smoke- and alcohol-free.

Ayden UMC Bluegrass Gospel - Family Night

This year we are breaking with tradition.  Homecoming Sunday hasalways been the opening of Revival Services here at Ayden UMC.  This year, we will try something new.  Beginning September 19th, we will have the first of our quarterly Family Night Events.  Gospel Hwy will present an evening of Bluegrass Gospel music.  This talented group of musicians has performed throughout Eastern North Carolina in churches and festivals.  You can check out their music and history on www.gospelhwy.com.  Rev. Ron Carnighan, Pastor at Monk Memorial United Methodist Church –  Bell Arthur Circuit, is one of the performers singing lead and playing rythymn guitar
